Another busy day in Rome. We started the day walking up to central Rome. We finally managed to locate the AS Roma store and buy some tickets for tonight's game.
Our walking tour took in the major sights Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and The Pantheon. Rome is certainly blessed with some spectacular buildings and monuments. The Pantheon was my pick of the day. I am blown away that a dome so massive was built in the 2nd century AD.
Trevi Fountain is also very grand but was way too crowded.
Ollie has been getting revenge on the street sellers, harassing them to see how low he could get another splat pig for. We paid 1 euro for the first, and 2 for the replacement (I was desperate), they always start at 3.
Ollie amazingly managed to get another one today for 65 cents! His perseverance paid off.
On our way back to the apartment to get ready for the football we got passed by a bride and groom on a white Vespa with a just married sign and some tin cans. Very cool, we had to chase them for a photo.
It took us about an hour on the net to work out the buses to the stadium. By then it was time to leave. The bus was so crowded we only just managed to squeeze aboard. But then more people forced there way on at subsequent stops. It must have been very full even by Rome standards as locals on scooters were staring at the bus in amazement.
We had a few hassles finding the right entry gate but just made the kickoff. It was a noisy and enjoyable game. Rome won 3-1. The crowd go completely mental whenever a goal is scored, families hugging and kissing throwing their kids in the air. Yet when Atlanta scored you could have heard a pin drop. No booing or jeering just silence.
The trip home was less crowded thankfully. Another busy day in Rome over, only two more to go.
